Andrew Cole
Andrew Cole's journey at Arista Care Meadow Springs began on February 17, 2022, with a diagnosis of Guillain-Barre Syndrome. Initially, Mr. Cole faced immense challenges, relying entirely on others for functional mobility and activities of daily living. With a trach and ventilator providing crucial respiratory support, and nutrition administered via PEG tube, the road to recovery seemed daunting.
Yet, Andrew's perseverance and the collective efforts of our multidisciplinary team have yielded remarkable results. Through dedicated physical, occupational, and speech therapy sessions, complemented by respiratory care and nursing support, he has made astounding progress.
Freed from the ventilator and decannulated, he now savors the simple joys of a regular diet, relishing the independence of feeding and dressing himself with modified assistance and adaptive equipment.
Andrew has honed his dynamic balance by utilizing our innovative REAL Virtual Reality Therapy System, mastering functional mobility tasks with grace and confidence. Walking independently on various surfaces with a rollator walker, he conquers outdoor terrains and confidently ascends and descends stairs under supervision.
Beyond his remarkable physical achievements, Andrew's presence has enriched our community. Engaging actively in recreational activities and helping fellow residents, he has become a valued member of our family. All, including our beloved pet therapy animals, miss him dearly.
In Andrew's own words, his journey has been one of gratitude and disbelief at the strides he's made. As he embarks on the next chapter of his recovery journey, we extend our heartfelt wishes for continued success and happiness. Andrew, you have been an absolute pleasure to work with, and your resilience inspires us all. Keep forging ahead with your recovery, and know that you'll always have a warm welcome whenever you return to visit!
